Client Management Advisory Notice

From Client Management
Subject New IP Address For MQM IP Access Effective Monday, October 22, 2001.
Effective Date 10/15/01
Notice Number CM#0171

Effective with the business of October 22nd, the production IP address for firms MQM IP sender channel changes from 155.155.210.233 to 198.212.155.249. For the test environment (MVSB), you already are connecting to 198.212.155.241. All firms that use MQM IP (only) and those few firms (and Exchanges) that connect directly to the CME mainframe for FTP services (versus the FTP server) must successfully complete a machine-to-machine ping test to the new IP address between October 15-19th. If you need the CME to verify or assist you with the test, our preferred testing hours are Mon-Fri between 8:00 -11:00 a.m. CST. However, other times can be arranged. This will not affect firms that connect to MQM via APPN (SNA)! MQM software is used for trade submission and confirmation, including GLOBEX transaction confirmations.

Switch the Address on Sunday

On Sunday, October 21st, between 8:00-10:00 am CST, firms should access their MQM sender channel to the CME and change the IP address from 155.155.210.233 to 198.212.155.249. Do not make this change before October 21st. This is a 100% MQM IP address conversion. If you fail to complete this change, you will not be able to access MQM in production on Monday morning, October 22nd. This means you will not be able to transmit trades to the CME! The 155.155.210.233 will no longer be accessible for MQM IP. The 155.155.210.233 address will continue to work for FTP.

If on Sunday morning, you cannot start up your MQM sender channel to our new 198.212.155.249 address, you may call 930-4589 or 930-8165 for MQM application assistance. But, please make sure that your network staff has successfully completed a machine ping test BEFORE Sunday.

Internal Firm Notification

Because many member firms network and systems staff are not regular recipients of our e-mails, PLEASE pass this memo along to any and all related systems and network staff within your firm. They can determine what work is required to make this IP address change, as it applies to your system.

To arrange assistance with testing, or if you have questions, please call or e-mail Karen F. McCoy at (312) 930-4524 - kmccoy@cme.com. Thank you.
